The Adult Figure Skating Seminar held in Burnaby on October 5 and 6 was an outstanding success. There were 27 skaters registered for the entire seminar and another 5 for the Saturday only session. In addition, nine skaters registered for the Social Ice Dance portion.
Saturday consisted of an edges and stroking seminar with Megan Wing, Aaron Lowe and Colleen Laferriere. This was followed by a social ice dance session with a western theme and an off-ice social.
Sunday started with lunch with inspirational guest speaker Sally Rehorick speaking about her Olympic experiences - Olympic Flames - Experiencing the Sizzle: Coping with the Heat. Then everyone took to the ice for a freeskate focused session with coaches Colleen Laferriere, Miki Mori, Devon Neuls and Zdenek Pazdirek. To finish off the weekend eleven skaters who will be competing in Lake Placid and/or Winter World Masters Games in Innsbruck, Austria were able to take advantage of a competition simulation with feedback from Challenge level judge Tiffany Edwardsen.
A great time was had by all!
