Congratulations to Joanne Nickel, a dedicated volunteer with Skate Canada BC/YT Section, for receiving the Sport BC Presidents’ Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to figure skating!

Joanne currently serves as the Director of Finance on Skate Canada BC/YT Section's Board of Directors. She is also a passionate volunteer official, travelling across the province to officiate at competitions and assessment days. During the COVID pandemic, she led the implementation of virtual figure skating assessment days, ensuring that skaters could continue progressing through the sport.

In addition to her work at the provincial level, Joanne serves on the Skate Canada National Finance & Risk Management Committee and is a National Level Technical Representative at competitions across Canada.
