Hello Everyone,
On January 7, the Provincial Health Officer announced the extension of the current Provincial Health Order until February 5th, 2021.
The current Provincial Health Order states:
"Travel to, from and between communities for athletic activities like games, competitions, training and practice is prohibited."
As the travel restriction for sport is in place until February 5th, 2021 we are announcing the following changes to the Competitions planned for January and February, 2021.
- 2021 Okanagan Regional Event (in person event) - January 22-24, 2021 in Vernon, BC - This event will be rescheduled as it cannot proceed in person at this time.
- 2021 WinterSkate & BC Coast Regional Event (in person event) - January 28-31, 2021 in Burnaby, BC - This event will be rescheduled as it cannot proceed in person at this time.
- 2021 BC/YK Section Skate Canada Cup Qualifier Competition - (in person event) - January 27-28, 2021 in Burnaby, BC - This event is cancelled.
- 2021 BC/YK Section West Coast Challenge Adult & Synchronized Skating Competition - (in person event) - February 13, 2021 - This event is cancelled.
- 2021 Kootenay Regional Event (virtual event) - February 19-21, 2021-This event will proceed as scheduled.
- 2021 Vancouver Island Regional Event (in person event) - February 26-28, 2021 in Victoria, BC - This event will be rescheduled as it cannot proceed in person at this time.
- 2021 CNC Regional Event (virtual event) - March 12-14, 2021 - This event will proceed as scheduled.
The Okanagan, BC Coast, and Vancouver Island Regional Events will be rescheduled with the new dates determined and announced after February 5, 2021, once we know the status of the current Provincial Health Order.
The Kootenay & CNC Region Virtual Events will proceed as scheduled. More information, including registration and virtual video submission information, regarding these events will be sent out soon.
Refunds will be issued for any skater who has registered for the Okanagan and BC Coast Region Events. This refunds will be processed right away and could take up to 4 weeks to be completed.
Also, Skate Canada announced the cancellation of the 2021 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships and the 2021 Skate Canada Cup Event. Due to the cancellation of the 2021 Skate Canada Cup the January BC/YK Section Skate Canada Cup Qualifier Competition will not take place.
