Regional Coach or Higher wanted

 

Job description:

 

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated coach to establish a career at the JDFSC,with prospects for professional development and growth in a vibrant and active skating club, with a membership over 400 skaters.

 

Juan de Fuca Skating Club is a well-established club, operating out of the Westshore Parks and Recreation Arena in Colwood and the Westhills arena in Langford. We offer programs all year round – six days a week in the Fall/Winter (September to March), five days a week in Spring (April to June), and five days a week in the Summer (July to mid August).

 

JDFSC offers programs for CanSkate, StarSkate, Podium Pathway Competitive, and Synchronized skating for youth and adults. Information about our club is available on our website at juandefucaskatingclub.com. 

 

As part of our off-ice training, our Club also enjoys affiliation with the Pacific Institute for Sports Excellence (PISE) at Camosun College. 

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

 

The successful candidate will:

• Be a Skate Canada registered Coach in good standing

• Be a Certified NCCP Regional coach or higher

• Proficiency in operating Pro-Motion hand held jump harness is an asset; stationary Bronson off-ice jump harness also in place

• Be qualified to coach CanSkate, StarSkate, and Star Assessments with a desire to pursue coaching Podium Pathway Competitive level skaters. Potential for the opportunity to mentor with National Certified coaches in the Club

• Must be available for JDFSC scheduled ice times for skating programs

The successful candidate will:

• Be interested in working collaboratively with other coaches in a team environment

• Be highly motivated, enthusiastic, passionate, professional and reliable

• Have strong organizational, communication, & interpersonal skills

• Be interested in professional development & continuous learning

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, skaters and parents

• Ability to provide Off-ice training or any of the following training is an asset (Presently in place: Pilates, Fitness/Jump, and Dance)

• Ability to create a safe, positive and supportive environment for youth in sport

 

Compensation for coaching position:

 

  • Based on qualifications and experience. Rates range from $30.00 to 60.00 per hours

 

Time Commitment:

 

Part-time or Full-time

 

Additional / future opportunities may be available under a separate contract.
