The Mission Skating Club is so excited to be hosting our fall seminar with Elvis Stojko and Gladys Orozco. Elvis is a two-time Olympic silver medalist, 3 time World Champion, and 7 time Canadian National Champion. He is also the first person to land a quad in combination. He is currently touring with Stars On Ice. Gladys is a show skater, choreographer, and coach. At 12 years old she was the youngest competitor on the Mexican National Team. She represented Mexico for 10 years on the international competitive circuit and was selected to compete in the 2002 World Figure Skating Championships in Nagano, Japan. She was also a principal performer with Disney On Ice and other global performing companies, performing all over the world.

Off-ice will be in the Leisure Center gymnasium and will be a closed session - no spectators.
The Mission Leisure Center is located at 7650 Grand Street, Mission.
Off Ice is with Gladys. On Ice is with Elvis. They will switch off so that Elvis can speak with the skaters off the ice. Elvis and Gladys will be doing the scheduling once registration and numbers are confirmed (closer to the seminar date).
Registration:
Out-of-Club registration is now open and is on a first come first serve basis. The registration form can be found at the bottom of this email. The on-ice portion of the seminar will be on the South Rink and the off-ice portion will be held in the gym and across the parking lot at the Boswyk Centre. Don't worry - there will be signs and directions.
Closer to the seminar date we will forward schedules and grouping information. Registration will remain open until spots are filled.
**Mission Skating Club members have priority registration until Sunday, July 21st, 2024. Registration opens to out-of-club members on Monday, July 22nd, after this club member registration can not be guaranteed**
If we have a huge influx of Star 1-5, the schedule might be adjusted, and the older ones put on the Sunday.
Dressing Rooms:
Dressing Rooms will be provided and labelled, alternatively, you can get skates on in the lobby - just make sure you are on time for your group activity. The dressing rooms will be co-ed. The Mission Skating Club will not be held responsible for lost or stolen items.
Facility:
There are two entrances to the Mission Leisure Center, the main one with the steps leading to the doors and then another entrance (with a sign above labeled arena) off to the east side with sliding doors (across from the skate park). It is easiest to use the Arena sliding-door entrance as there will be greeters there to answer questions and tell you where to go. For spectators, there are heated stands for viewing, however, I’d recommend dressing warm.
Food:
Be sure to bring a water bottle and snacks. There will be breaks to change skates and attire, use these times to eat a light snack too. Lunch is NOT provided. Red's Grill will be open on-site but depending on how busy it is, can take time to get food.
