Elkford - Wild at Heart!
Our skating club has been a part of Elkford, BC, for over 45 years - it is almost as old as the community itself - and we continue to thrive in our beautiful Rocky Mountain town. Our regular club programming includes Parent and Tot, Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate, and StarSkate sessions, with the season running from mid-September to mid-March. The skating schedule includes 12 - 15 hours of on-ice sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week, with room to expand as needed with off-ice training, PowerSkate, and Adult/Teen Programs. Coaching hours will be compensated at a range of $35 to $65 per hour, based on previous experience and skating levels achieved. Administrative work (from home) will be compensated at a minimum of $25/hr. The successful candidate will teach at all club levels, including the delivery of both group and private lessons to StarSkaters during on-ice Star sessions. Coaches can expect to launch our skaters at three to five competition weekends per season. We present a small holiday exhibition in December, in addition to our spectacular annual spring Ice Show. We are re-introducing off-ice training into our programs and are eagerly anticipating the installation of an on-ice jump harness in Elkford Arena in summer 2024. Our skaters are also very excited about exploring Skate Canada’s new synchro initiatives. Our executive is committed to professional development and will support our coaching staff’s participation in ongoing training opportunities throughout the year. Candidates are encouraged to visit our website at: elkfordskatingclub.uplifterinc.com and may be interested to know that additional coaching opportunities (within driving distance) may be available in neighboring communities in the Elk Valley/East Kootenay region of BC (and southwestern Alberta).
