Betty was the mother of three children who skated at the Hollyburn Country Club. Betty started, like many other volunteers, by bringing their children to the skating club and eventually becoming engaged in the activities and trying to help out the club in various ways. When her daughters were a little bit older, Betty became a volunteer with the Hollyburn Country Club committee.
Betty soon got involved with the BC Judges Bureau, a group of volunteers who handled all the training, promotions and scheduling throughout the province. While sitting at her kitchen table, Betty would be working the rotary phones late into the evening, soon earning the nickname of “The Queen of the Night.”
Betty’s countless hours and dedication to the BC skating community, while juggling life with a busy family, is why she is being inducted as a Builder into the BC/YT Section Hall of Fame.
